ELECTROLYTIC CELL USING ION EXCHANGE MEMBRANE METHOD

PURPOSE:To prevent surely the liquid leakage from anode and cathode chambers in an electrolytic cell of which the anode and cathode chambers are segmented by bag- shaped moldings of which the parts facing anodes and cathodes are cation exchange membranes and which contain the anodes thereon by supporting partition plates while lifting up the same. CONSTITUTION:Cathodes 2 extend from the side wall in an electrolytic cell body 1 to the side walls of the inside facing said walls and anodes 10 are supported perpendicularly to face the cathodes 2. A molding 11 of which at least the parts facing the anodes and cathodes are formed of a cation exchange membrane is made into the bag shape in which >=1 anodes 10 can be housed. An anode chamber 12 is formed in said molding and a partition plate 14 having an aperture 13 provided with a tapered surface in the part opposite to the aperture at the top end of said anode chamber 12 is mounted to the anode chamber. A downward facing trapezoidal cover body 16 is provided in contact with the inside edge at the aperture of the molding 11 and a fixture 21 for the cover body is installed above the same approximately orthogonally with the body 16. The bottom end of a connecting member 23 is screwed to the frame part 22 between the adjacent apertures 13 of the plate 14 and the member 23 is fixed to the fixture 21. The deflection of the plate 14 and the fixture 21 is thus decreased and the desired purpose is achieved.
