PURPOSE:To produce safely and continuously a thermosetting resin of good quality while minimizing the short pass of starting materials, by reacting starting materials fed in the first and second zones of a continuous reaction apparatus in turn. CONSTITUTION:A continuous reaction apparatus having a structure wherein a rotating shaft 5 provided with a plurality of heated impellers 7 is arranged within a horizontal cylindrical casing 4 with closed ends, provided with a starting material inlet 10 at the front and with a reaction product outlet 10 at the rear, is used in a multi-stage system. A mixture obtd. by mixing starting materials (e.g. urea, paraformaldehyde and a catalyst in the production of a urea resin) in a mixer 1 is reacted in the zones 3a, 3b of said continuous reaction apparatus in turn, and the reaction product is allowed to drop onto a conveying belt 15, cooled during the course of conveyance and crushed in a crusher 16 to produce continuously a thermosetting resin of good quality.
