PURPOSE:To smoothly perform the fault analyzing operation of a terminal controlling device and improve the maintenance performance, by automatically transmitting tracing data to a host computer (electronic computer for controlling data communication system) when the data communication system terminal controlling device detects an error. CONSTITUTION:A terminal controlling device 7 is connected with a host electronic computer which is not shown in the figure through a circuit 61 and an MODEM 62. The terminal input-output trace processing mechanism 74 of the controlling device 7 always stores terminal input-output data inputted and outputted through a terminal connecting mechanism 76 in a tracing data storing area 77 as tracing data. Similarly, a line transmission and reception trace processing mechanism 75 always stores data obtained through a line connecting mechanism 71 in the storing area 77. When the area 77 is filled with data, a new data are superimposedly written on the oldest data and this operation is repeated thereafter. When the terminal controlling device 7 detects an error, data are immediately fetched to a transmitting mechanism 73 and transmitted to the host computer through the line 61 after the data are modulated and demodulated at the MODEM 62. Therefore, the fault analyzing operation can be performed smoothly and the maintenance performance can be improved.
