In the case of a brake booster with a vacuum chamber (3) at constant pressure and a working chamber (4) at variable pressure, which are separated by a movable wall (6) and with a control valve (10, 11) operatable by a brake pedal (7), which valve controls the pressure differentials acting on the movable wall (6), and with a pushrod (9) acting on a main cylinder, reaction levers (1, 2) connected to one another by struts (15, 16) of elastic material are provided, which engage at a first point (A) with the movable wall (6) and at a second point (B) with the pushrod (9), the first point (A) being arranged radially further outwards than the second point (B) and the reaction levers (1, 2) being acted upon by a valve piston (12) at a third point (C). The reaction levers (1, 2) act as "jumpers", that is they move abruptly in the direction of the valve pistons (12), when the force acting on the pushrod (9) in the direction of the arrow is greater than the jumper force. <IMAGE>
