In the production of sections of gut which are sealed on one side, are drawn off a roll of tube, then sealed and subsequently separated by being cut off the tube, it is desirable for the open end of the tube which is sealed after filling and thus also the sealed tip to have as straight an edge contour as possible and for a simple pleating device to be used. This object is achieved in that the tube 5 is firstly guided between a pair of rollers 6/7 which hold the tube 5 in its flat width, it is then guided approximately centrally through a gathering nozzle 8 which corresponds to the section 2 of gut to be formed, the gathering nozzle 8 is displaced in the direction of the sealing point 12 while the tube 5 is drawn off through a release device 13, and the hand gripping the beginning of the tube actuates the stop 10 to trigger the sealing and cutting-off operation. <IMAGE>
