PURPOSE:To early find out the damage to a bearing metal to minimize the damage, by mixing the bearing metal with fine grains for detecting the damage and by providing a detector in an oil drain pipe to detect the fine grains in drained oil to find out the damage. CONSTITUTION:Fine grains 2d are mixed in a white metal 2a for the inner race 2 of a bearing so that the fine grains are drained together with lubricating oil when the white metal is damaged and exfoliated. The fine grains 2d have a color, a form and physical properties, which are easy to observe by naked eyes or react with a damage monitoring device 5. When the bearing metal 2a is damaged and the fine grains 2d are discharged out of the bearing, a detector 4 finds out the passing or outflow of the fine grains and supplies a detection signal to the monitoring device 5. The damage to the bearing metal 2a caused by seizure or fatigue is thus early detected to prevent a major trouble to lengthen the life of the bearing. |
