PURPOSE:To keep the clearance of a scroll member in proper by heating a coupling part between the fixed scroll and a casing means to expand it into the axial direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:When low temperature lubricating oil is supplied to the central part of the fixed scroll 1 through a pipe 24, it cools the high temperature zone of an end plate 1a and flows through oil paths 41, 42 between the outer wall of the end plate 1a and the inner wall of the casing means 4, thereafter, it heats an annular housing 4b and rises the casing means 4. According to this method, the fixed scroll is also moved upward through bolts 5, the gaps between the tip end face of a lap 1b at the central part of the scroll and the end plate 2a of a rotary scroll 2 as well as the tip end of the lap 2b and the end plate 1a are maintained, therefore, strong abutments may be prevented. The axial position of the end plate 2a of the rotary scroll 2 may be adjusted by the operation of the bolts 5 and the gap may be changed, while the gap may become proper even when a layer, in which a heat-resistive resin is mixed with glass fibers or the like, is formed on the surface of the lap of one of the scrolls.
