NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each 1-8C alkyl (but, not 1-4C alkyl at the same time), allkenyl, alkoxy-alkyl, cycloalkyl, chlorine-substituted ethyl at beta-site, (chlorine, etc.-substituted) phenyl, etc.; R3 is H, methyl, or chlorine; R4 and R5 are each H, methyl, ethyl, chlorine, bromine, or nitro; R6 is chlorine or bromine; n is 0-4; formula II is formula III or IV]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula V. USE:Color developing agent for heat- or pressure-sensitive recording sheet; being highly durable, resistant to light, water, humidity, etc. in colored images developed therefrom. PREPARATION:For example, a carboxylic acid derivative of formula VI and a diphenylamine derivative of formula VII (R7 is H, methyl, or ethyl) are brought to reaction, in the presence of a dehydrating condensing agent, pref. at 0-30 deg.C for several-several tens hours. The resulting liquid is poured into water followed by alkali-treatment of the precipitate produced. |
