CLIP FOR SECURING HOSEPIPES AND LIKE USES

The specification describes a releasable clip which comprises a band for encircling an article such as a hosepipe to be secured. The band carries at its respective ends complementary interlockable coupling elements for connecting the ends of the band and drawing them together to contract the clip around the encircled article. The coupling element on one end of the band consists of a tongue provided on its upper and lower surfaces with barbed serrations and on the other end of the band the coupling element is a pair of jaws having inwardly facing barbed serrations; each jaw extends in a generally longitudinal direction from the point where it is joined to the band to a tip thereof and a jaw mouth is provided between the tips of the jaws through which the tongue is insertable in the said longitudinal direction tip first into the jaws. The serrations on the tongue, when the tongue is present between the jaws, interlock with the serrations of the jaws and thereby hold the tongue to prevent withdrawal movement thereof in the said longitudinal direction. The serrations on the tongue and jaws however, allow the tongue and jaws to move relative to each other laterally, to disengage the tongue from the jaws and so release the clip. The releasable clip is moulded in one piece of a plastics material.
