PURPOSE:To enable to easily conduct a test printing operation even in the absence of a paper, by a method wherein a printer having the function of inhibiting a printing operation when the absence of a paper is detected is provided with a switch for momentarily stopping the function. CONSTITUTION:In a printer provided with a paper-empty function for inhibiting the printing operation when a paper absence signal is inputted from a paper presence/absence detector 28 into a CPU 11 through an I/O port 21, a switch 29 for selectively enabling or disenabling the paper-empty function is provided, and is connected to the CPU 11 through an I/O port 22. When conducting a test operation of a hammer provided in a printing head, the switch 29 is operated to disenable the paper-empty function. |
