The present invention is based on a system which consists of a continuously operating transmitter and a receiver with a direction finding antenna or directional antenna. Using this known system, the location of the transmitter, which is mounted on a vehicle, could only be determined in a cumbersome and inaccurate manner by finding the direction at least twice by means of a directional antenna of the receiver from two different locations. The transmitter of the system according to the invention has a measuring unit which responds to a movement of the vehicle and a navigation computer which determines data on a distance travelled by the vehicle from the output signals of the measuring unit and sends out these data. This signal is evaluated at the receiver end and displayed. The data displayed enable the site of the transmitter to be determined in a simple manner.
