Differential gear arrangement

In the case of an arrangement comprising two differential gears connected in series the differential cases (5, 12) of the two differential gears (2, 4) are pivotably mounted about a common main axis. A drive wheel (13) of the first differential gear (2) is directly connected to the differential case (12) of the second differential gear (4) by way of the one drive shaft of the first differential gear (2) designed as a hollow shaft (14). One drive shaft (27) of the second differential gear (4) passes through this hollow shaft (14) and the other drive shaft (19) of the first differential gear (2) likewise designed as a hollow shaft. The first differential gear in particular may be designed either as a bevel gear, spur gear or as a planet wheel differential gear. This results in numerous possible variations with regard to the design construction, the required space and the distribution of torques, which make the use of the gear arrangement especially interesting in a small off-the-road motor vehicle with all-wheel drive (fig.1). <IMAGE>
