Clearance-indicating device

A device for indicating the clearance between two vehicles, which permits the driver of the first vehicle to determine the clearance from a stationary vehicle located behind the first by looking into the rear mirror when parking in reverse gear. This is achieved by a number of at least two punctiform luminous elements which are arranged at a distance from one another on a horizontal line and on the rear screen of the first vehicle. When parking in reverse gear, the driver of the first vehicle, which is being parked, sees in the rear view mirror the punctiform luminous elements arranged on the rear screen, together with the contours of the vehicle behind. When the chain of light-emitting diodes coincides with the lower rim of the windscreen of the second vehicle in the rear view mirror of the first vehicle, the correct clearance has been reached for parking.
