PURPOSE:To produce L-aspartic acid economically or an industrial scale, by preparing a microbial strain having high aspartase activity by self-cloning technique, and contacting the microorganisms with furamic aid and ammonia. CONSTITUTION:A deoxyribonucleic acid carrying the gene information of aspartase and separated from microorganisms belonging to Serratia genus is integrated in a plasmid, and the obtained hydbrid plasmid is inserted into a microorganism belonging to Serratia genus. The obtained microbial strain is made to contact with fumaric acid and ammonia. The cultured liquid of the microorganism, the microbial cell collected from the liquid, or treated microbial cell may be used in place of the microbial cell itself. |
