PURPOSE:To improve the utilizing efficiency of a buffer in a data link layer by offering buffers in various sizes to the data link layer and converting the buffer in size when the buffers in optical size are deficient. CONSTITUTION:A buffer pool 4 pooling respectively plural buffers in plural sizes, a means offering the buffers in plural sizes to the data link stack 2 from the pool 4, and a receiving buffer managing table 5 representing how many buffers in plural sizes possible for the use by the link stack 2 there are respectively are provided to a high-order stack 1, and a frame counter 6 selecting the operating buffer size in response to a received packet size is provided to the link layer 6. Further, when the buffer in size to be offered does not exists in the pool 4, the means offering the buffers in plural sizes converts the buffers different in size into a buffer in size to be offered by a buffer managing section 3. |
