PURPOSE:A silver-coated electric material having quality and properties prevented from deterioration after being mechanically or thermally worked, by coating the surface of a Cu member with the layer of a Cu-Sn alloy having a specified composition and then with Ag. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer having thickness above about 0.05mum, pref. 0.1- 0.2mum is formed from an alloy comprising 3-12% Sn and the balance Cu on the surface of a Cu or Cu alloy member. Then, an Ag or Ag alloy coating layer is formed to thickness of about 0.3-3mum on the former coating layer. Hence, the Ag coating material can be curtailed without deterioration of quality or properties.
