Process for testing and endorsing an insert card (9) introducible into a receptacle of a debiting device, especially a telephone, and containing currency units. In debiting devices of this type, the object is to ensure that fraudulent manipulations which can result in a service without the introduction of the insert card are prevented. This is achieved in that the insert card (9) is pushed into a receiving frame (1) through a receiving slot (15) of the debiting device, and in that the receiving frame (1) is lowered by means of a button (10) passing through the housing wall (2) of the debiting device, until the receiving frame (1) is inaccessible from outside. In the lowered position of the receiving frame (1), the testing and endorsement of the insert card (9) take place. After endorsement has occurred, the insert card (9) is returned to the initial position and ejected. The testing and endorsement of the insert card (9) in the lowered position of the receiving frame (1) inaccessible from outside can prevent in a simple way a fraudulent action for the purpose of obtaining a service. <IMAGE>
