PURPOSE:To prepare a sintered ore having excellent quality with excellent productivity and production yield by improving the air permeability of a sintering stock material layer, in preparing the sintered ore, by segregating the moisture content of the sintering stock material on the pallet of a sintering machine in the height direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:Various kinds of sintering stock materials from stock mateial tanks 1 are kneaded in a primary mixer 2 and the kneaded mixture is distributed to secondary mixers 3-1, 3-2 where water or hot water is added to perform granulation while the granular stock materials are respectively stored in hoppers 4-1, 4-2. In this case, the moisture contents of the sintering granular stock materials in the hoppers 4-1, 4-2 which form the lower sintering stock material layer 8 and the upper sintering stock material layer 9 on the floor laying ore layer 7 formed on the pallet 6 of a sintering machine are controlled within a range of 0.2-2% and the moisture of the upper stock material layer 9 is made much as compared with that of the lower stock material layer 8. In addition, the thickness of the lower stock material layer 8 is set to 2/3-1/3 on the basis of the total thickness of the stock materials on the pallet 6. The moisture of the stock material in the upper layer is lowered into the stock material in the lower layer with the lowering of the combustion zone and the inclination of moisture condensation in the lower layer part is eliminated to enhance air permeability and the sintered ore having excellent reducibility is obtained in excellent productivity and production yield.
