PURPOSE:To shorten intervals of sectors on a recording medium and to perform high-density signal recording by making the front end surface of a core constituting a ring type head smaller in curvature than the surface of it where magnetic recording medium slides. CONSTITUTION:One end side of the core 21 where a gap G is formed is notched to specific width and the end surface is worked to have a specific radius R1 of curvature. Then, a nonmagnetic body 23 is provided on one end surface of the core 21 except in the formation area of the gap G, and this nonmagnetic body 23 and the end surface of the core 21 close to the gap G form the sliding surface of the specific radius R2 of curvature for magnetic recording media. Then, the end surface edge of the core 21 of a recording and reproducing head is on the reverse surface of the sliding surface for magnetic recording media, forming a space S before the sliding surface. Consequently, almost all magnetic flux converges to end parts of single magnetic pole plates 25a and 25b as shown in a figure typically. |
