The connection device comprises a support 4, made from a soft material, which is elastically deformable. Its upper surface comprises a straight groove 5 suitable for accommodating, face to face, the respective ends of two optical fibres 1, 2 to be connected. The support 4 is housed in a base 3, the uprights 32, 33 of which return, in the upper part, to form catches (clips) 34, 35 which maintain a rigid plate 8 bearing on the surface of the support 4, the plate being surface coated, preferably with glass. At some distance away, clamps 15, 25 keep the fibres 1, 2 slightly buckled, on the side of the support. <IMAGE>
