PURPOSE:To decrease the storage capacity without decreasing the amount of information by designating an address of a commodity data except a code set to a commodity data file area with a code forming an index and continuous number. CONSTITUTION:The 1st commodity group where each commodity code is displayed in 4 digits and its code number is displayed respectively by five consecutive numerals and which consists of five commodities having 1000-1004 of code numbers, the 2nd commodity group consisting of four commodities having 1010- 1013 of code numbers, and the 4th commodity group or the like consisting of 6 commodities having 1020-1025 of code numbers similarly are stored in a price retrieval PLU file 4. A commodity code number 1023 is registered in, e.g., a register 1b and when the information is transmitted to a terminal control section 2, the control section 2 retrieves an area A of an index area of the file 4. Then, a value 6 of an index area B belonging to a code number 1020 is read. Further, an address of data itself is obtained by adding an inter-code-group arranging number 4 to a sub-index value 9 of an area C corresponding to the index. |
