PURPOSE:To store assuredly the control information to a floppy disk by storing the control information and the start address of a program to store said control information to a control information memory medium. CONSTITUTION:The retrieval title of the picture information set selectively at a register mode is supplied through a keyboard 24. A CPU12 checks the propriety of the input data from the number of digits, the types of characters, etc. in accordance with the format of the retrieval title. If it is decided the corresponding retrieval title is correct, it is sent and stored to a main memory 13. Then an original 20 is set to a 2-dimensional scanner 19, and therefore the CPU12 actuates the scanner 19 and an optical disk device 21. The scanner 19 gives a 2- dimensional scan to the picture information on the surface of the original 20 to convert the information photoelectrically. The line information thus obtained is sent successively to a page buffer 15, and the stored picture information equivalent to one page is stored in a display interface 18. This picture information is then sent to a CRT display device 25, and the pictures corresponding to the picture information is displayed.
