PURPOSE:To facilitate removing a toner which is stuck to a ground texture by an inversion phenomenon by providing a precleaning electrostatic charger having the same polarity as an electrostatic charger before a cleaning device. CONSTITUTION:A latent image holding body 1 consists of a supporting body 2, a dielectric layer 3, and a dielectric layer 4. A positively electrostatically charged toner is stuck to a part where an electric charge is discharged, namely, a recording part by a development process, and a toner which is electrostatically charged with a negative polarity induced by the electric charge on the layer 4 is stuck slightly to an electric charge remaining part, namely, the ground texture. Next, a negative polarity voltage is impressed from the back of a sheet 8 as a transfer material by a transfer electrostatic charger 7 to transfer the toner in the recording part to the sheet 8. The remaining toner in the ground texture is converted to the positive polarity or is neutralized to weaken attraction force by a precleaning electrostatic charger 9 and is removed easily. |
