The device measures structural defects in longitudinal moving objects (16) by measuring the inductive reaction related to the appearance of eddy currents when a variable electromagnetic field is applied across the objects to be inspected. The sensor in the device consists of two separable parts (1, 2), which can be placed opposite to and facing each other, and which define between them a longitudinal hollow (5) whose cross-section corresponds to that of the objects to be measured and which run through it. These two parts each contain a magnetic yoke (10, 11) making it possible to complete a magnetic circuit passing through two airgaps through which the moving objects travel in a perpendicular direction. <IMAGE>
