PURPOSE:To obtain the titled packing material capable of a large gas-liquid contact area, by forming a grating surface by mutually parallel flat plate groups and the other mutual parallel flat plate groups while allowing each one parallel flat plate group to be inclined with respect to the vertical surface of the grating surface. CONSTITUTION:The titled packing material is constituted of a plurality of mutually parallel flat plate groups 12a, 12b,- and mutually parallel flat plate groups 13a, 13b,- crossing the former plate groups to form a grating surface 11a. In addition, each of one flat plate groups 13a, 13b,- is inclined about 10 deg. with respect to the surface which is vertical to the grating surface 11a. That is, as the packing material in a gas-liquid contact apparatus such as a lime- gypsum process waste gas desulfurization apparatus, a grating shaped packing material reduced in the adhesion of scale and capable of obtaining a large gas- liquid contact area while enabling the reduction in the packing part volume of the gas-liquid contact apparatus is obtained.
