摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a wire-dot printer head which consumes little power, has a simple structure and enables high-speed printing, by a method wherein a wire for printing is displaced by a displacement-enlarging element which enlarges the displacement of an electrostrictive element through the intermediary of a liquid. CONSTITUTION:When the cross-sectional areas of an electrostictive element 11 and a wire 12 for printing are S1 and S2 respectively, the displacement of the electrostrictive element is enlarged in S1/S2 times through the intermediary of a liquid 13. When the diameter of the wire for printing is 0.3mm., it suffices that the diameter of the electrostrictive element is about 2.2mm. for obtaining the displacement enlarging rate of about fifty times, and thus the structure of a printer head can be made small and simple. Moreover, since a power is dispersed uniformly by the liquid, a load on a material is very small, and thus a long reliability can be obtained. In addition, the printer head can be operated at very high speed since the longitudinal oscillation of the electrostrictive element is utilized as it is for the printing speed of the head, and the head consumes very little power since it is of an electrostrictive driving type in which the electrostrictive element is used as a displacement-generating element.
