Heat insulation material suitable for being applied by means of a pneumatic device is composed of a large number of small pieces 65 of bound fibres, which fibre pieces have the same size, low density and essentially a hexahedronyl shape. In a method for producing such heat insulation material a felt 11 of resin bound fibres exhibiting a low density is fed forwards on a predetermined track. The thickness of the felt is reduced substantially by compressing. The compressed felt is cut up in the direction of feeding into a number of equally wide strips 30. The strips are chopped off a regular intervals to form a number of fibre pillars 62 which have essentially the same length, breadth and thickness. The fibre pillars are finally split up to form a large number of smaller pieces 65 of the same length and breadth. <IMAGE> |
