PURPOSE:To read the information recorded on an optional magnetic stripe out of a multi-stripe magnetic card by a single magnetic head, by using a sliding mechanism that slides the magnetic head in the width direction of the magnetic stripe on a magnetic card and positions the magnetic head at the position corresponding to each of plural magnetic stripes. CONSTITUTION:A slide state 65 is attached to a feed screw 68 set in the direction of a C-D arrow and to a guide shaft 69. The screw 68 is turned forward and backward by a stepping motor 70. When the motor 70 is turned forward, the stage 65 moves toward an arrow C. While the stage 65 moves backward to an arrow D when the motor 70 is turned backward. The forward/backward rotations and stoppage of the motor 70 are controlled by the output of a position sensor 71. Thus it is possible to position a magnetic head at the position corresponding to an optional one of four magnetic stripes on a magnetic card. |
