GAS COMPRESSING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To save power by operating a refrigerator with heat of gas discharged from the outlet of a compressor or of gas exhausted from a heat engine for driving the compressor to precool gas supplied to the compressor. CONSTITUTION:Cold gas sent out of an outlet 1b of a refrigerator 1 enters a compressor 3 from a system path 5 and is compressed. After one part of the gas is subjected to heat exchange with a fan cooler 18, it is sent to an inlet 1a and the remaining part is sent separately to a system path 7 to pass through a regenerative heat exchanger 11 in which it is subjected to heat exchange with return gas of a heat engine 4 and then heated to high temperature through a furnace 10 to be sent to a heat engine 4 which rotates to drive the compressor 3. Exhaust gas of the heat engine 4 enters the system path 5 from a system path 8. Heat of gas from an outlet 3b of the compressor and of gas from the heat enengine 4 are adapted to operate a refrigerator 9 to precool gas supplied to an inlet 3a of the compressor. Thus, power for driving the compressor is saved.
