PURPOSE:To conduct uniformly electricity to a continuous casting nozzle contg. carbon to heat quickly and uniformly the nozzle up to a required temp. by bringing an upper electrode and a lower electrode into contact with both end faces in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle and conducting electricity thereto. CONSTITUTION:An upper electrode 2 and a lower electrode 4 are brought into contact respectively directly or via a conductive thin plate 13 with both end faces in the longitudinal direction of a continuous casting nozzle 6 contg. carbon having electrical conductivity and the nozzle 6 is sandwiched by both electrodes 2 and 4, in continuous casting. When AC current is run in the nozzle 6 in this state, the nozzle evolves heat by Joule heat and its temp. rises. A lifting device 12 of a hydraulic type or the like is provided so as to have a contact buffer function for the electrode 4 and the end face in the lower part of the nozzle 6, so that the tight contact between the lower electrode and the end face in the lower part of the nozzle 6 is effected. The nozzle 6 is uniformly heated in a short time up to a required temp. by said heater prior to installation of the nozzle 6 to a tundish, etc. |
