Preferably the finished catalysts contains up to 16 wt% of phosphate ion and the alumina used is γ-alumina derived from boehmite obtained by hydrolysis of aluminium alkoxide which is the oxidation product of a Ziezhur-type reaction of an aluminium alkyl with an alpha mono-olefin. The catalyst may be reactivated by heating. In the examples calcined boehmite is digested with aluminium nitrate, separated therefrom, digested with (NH 4 ) 2 HPO 4 , wash, dried, calcined, impregnated with ammonium perrhenate, dried and activated in air. After use it is reactivated at 580‹C. |
