A jib for a crane or the like contains four elongated stiffening members (16) which are connected to four virtually flat longitudinal plates (17), which are embossed at intervals (see 20), in such a way that the jib is given virtually a rhombic cross-section. Compared with normal jibs of rectangular cross-section without embossing, such a construction has considerable advantages, i.e. the stress at the corners is reduced, inner recesses become unnecessary, deformation and damage are reduced, and the assembly of the jib is improved. …<IMAGE>… |
