Cam-part retention for knitting machines, especially circular knitting machines, with the aim of increasing the operating reliability and therefore the rotational speed of the circular knitting machine and of reducing the consumption of cam steel. Increasing the accuracy of the cam-part retention, especially in high-system circular knitting machines, and guaranteeing the exchangeability of the cam parts, with the object of placing the arrangement of the holding points outside the operating range of the cam part for the needles. Moreover, guaranteeing a greater spacing of the retention points of the cam part, especially in high-system circular knitting machines with small cam parts, in order to achieve an exact positioning, in that a cam plate having two or three holding points for a cam part is provided with a recess, and of the holding points on the cam plate one or two are arranged on the outer contour and one within the cam part. <IMAGE>
