PURPOSE:To enable a highly accurate measurement of residue of a liquid in a container by arranging a pair of electrode plates on the line connecting equal liquid level points when the liquid stored in the container swings. CONSTITUTION:When levels l2 and l3 with a fuel tank F being titled to the right and left are subtracted from a certain liquid level l1 of a liquid stored horizontal in the tank F, equal liquid level points P1 showing no variation in the level among three levels. A pair of electrode plates 17 and 18 are arranged to be bent along the line 19 connecting these points P1-P5. The residue in the tank can be determined from a value of the electrostatic capacitance between the electrode plates 17 and 18 connected to a circuit section 15. But the liquid level can be measured at a high accuracy as there is only limited variation in the liquid level at the position of arranging the electrode plates regardless of changes in the liquid level due to the inclination of the tank. This facilitates the mounting of a miniaturized level gauge thereby reducing the production cost drastically. |
