PURPOSE:To perform connection of crossing members by welding which can reduce the number of parts without using separate collar plates by bending the edge parts of the slots of a plate-shaped metallic member by external force, inserting crossing metallic members into the temporarily expanded slots then unbending said edge members and connecting both members by welding. CONSTITUTION:A slot 11 of approximately an inverted L shape is opened in a truss web 3 in accordance with the sectional shape of an inverted L shape of a lounge 1 in the case of connecting the double bottom parts of, for example, a steel ship, by welding. A shallow notch 12 of the same length as the length in the horizontal part of the slot 11 is opened in the lower edge of the shot 4 of the web 3. The peninsula part 13 formed by said notch 12 and the horizontal part of the slot 11 is bent by mechanical force to open temporarily largely the slot 11. The web 3 is thereafter lowered from above the lounge 1 welded to a shell 2 of the ship bottom and the lounge 1 is inserted into the slot 11, then the part 13 is unbent. The lounge 1 and the slot 11 are welded after unbending. |
