<p>A railway vehicle of modular construction in which the interchangeably positioned units include a fuel tank/cab unit, a control-equipment unit, a prime mover unit with a diesel, engine and an electric generator or hydraulic pump, and a cooling unit, all having bottom plates corresponding in width to the width of the frame. The units are mounted on the longitudinal beams of the upwardly open frame by bridge plates or yokes which draw bridged pairs of bottom plates toward the longitudinal beams. The spaces between the upper surfaces of the longitudinal beams and the upper surface of the transverse beams accommodates a cooling-air duct running to the trucks from the cooling unit which can also cool the engine.</p> |
