What is proposed is a shearing machine for fibrous web, preferably of carpets, which has a shearing roller with spirally extending knives, which is motor-driven and which is assigned a stationary counterknife which is arranged parallel to the roller axis and of which the cutting edge interacting with the spiral knives defines the cutting line, the shearing roller and counterknife being combined in a shearing housing, and in order to change the web cutting length this shearing housing and therefore the cutting line being randomly variable in its distance from the shearing surface within an overall housing of the shearing machine. This shearing machine has a series of important embodiments which relate, above all, to the shearing housing and to its arrangement in the shearing machine.
