摘要 PURPOSE:To accurately measure the C-content of a metal material, by photographing a spark over the time ranging from the generation thereof to the extinction thereof by utilizing such a fact that there is a characteristic in the spark generated corresponding to the C-content of the metal material while comparing the obtained image with one in which the characteristic obtained from a material of which the C-content is known is stored. CONSTITUTION:In measuring the C-content in a metal, especially, in steel, for example, a steel piece 10 is applied to a grinder 11 to generate a spark (a) and the spark is photographed over the time ranging from the generation thereof to the extinction thereof through a filter 12 pervious to light ranging from a red visible light region to a near infrared region by a photographing device 13. The image is scanned by a scanner 14 to be stored in a light point memory device 15. In the next step, while the giving and taking of data is performed between an operation device 16 and the device 15, characteristic data such as the generating frequency of the spark, a spark lasting time or a spark branching number are stored in an image memory device 17. Subsequently, the data of the device 17 in which the characteristic obtained from a material of which the C-content is known is preliminarily stored is compared with the measured data by the operation device 16 to display the C-content of the specimen by a display device 18.
