<p>In order to give a camera which is stable in use, even when mounted on a movable base such as an aircraft, boat or land vehicle, or when supported by an individual on a moving base, there is provided a camera mount (2) which may be a tripod or otherwise mounted but which also has a recess (3) to fit over the shoulder of a camera operator who will use a view finder (13). The mount (2) has a camera platform (8) gimbal-mounted therein and provided with a stabilizing means including a rate-sensing giro system. Alternatively or additionally a video lock-on system may be incorporated, of which a camera lens (15) is shown. The casing of the mount is provided with hand grips (5) for adjusting and steadying the mount and these grips also incorporate controls for the camera and stabilizing means. A microprocessor based control unit for a camera mount, and a set of operating modes for a camera mount are also disclosed. <IMAGE></p> |
