The suitably-guided belt is passed at constant speed between mobile elements which raise the temp. of the marginal zones and subject them to a very rapid succession of instantaneous compressions. Each compression acts over a very reduced area, producing along the length of the edges of the belt and at a small distance from them, a series of small indentations or concavities, in which the warp and weft threads of the fabric from which the belt is made become welded, thus reinforcing the edges.
|
