A roundabout has a rotatable central structure, extensions which project radially from the central structure, and at least one gondola arm at the end of each extension; said gondola arm can be rotated about an axis running approximately in the direction of the extension. On each gondola arm there is mounted at least one gondola such that it maintains its horizontal position when the gondola arm rotates. The central structure is rotated about a stationary, approximately vertical mast and can be moved upwards and downwards on the mast. In the vicinity of the bottom end position of the central structure, the gondolas are fixed in a horizontal position in order to permit the passengers to get on and off.
