PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium available for color image of high density, rich gradations, precise resolution, and admirable preservation stability by depositing in succession on a supporting body layer containing a predetermined pigment and that containing sublimable pigment catching compound and heat-fusible compound. CONSTITUTION:A layer 2 containing a pigment (for instance, nitro-family dispersing dye, etc.) which is in a solid phase at normal temperature and available for sublimable transfer by heating and additional layer 3 containing sublimable pigment catching compound (for instance, compound as shown by a formula, etc.) available for weakening or eliminating the sublimating property of said pigment and heat-fusible compound (for instance, paraffin wax, etc.) are desposited on a supporting body 1 (for instance, paper, etc.), a required thermal transfer recording medium is obtained. Further, for forming a color image, thermal energy is provided from the supporting body side 1 through a heating head 6 and on a recording sheet 4, a type image 5 composed of non-sublimable pigment is impressed. |
