In a fan for dishwashers, which is mounted in the flat space between the wall of the washer container and the outer housing of the machine, the effect as a condenser for the wet steam emerging from the machine is improved when the ventilation shaft (7, 8) has a suction opening (11) for ambient air in its lower region. Located directly above the connecting opening (1) between the fan and the wash container is a catchment space (3) which is closed at the top and past which is guided at the side the ventilation shaft (7, 8) which preferably consists of two sections forming an angular shape. It is expedient to integrate in the fan a water storage container for regenerating the water softener of the machine, which consists of a plurality of storage chambers (12, 13, 14), which can be called upon individually or in groups, and is filled from the line of a free-jet section (5), which is likewise integrated. <IMAGE>
