PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a precursor of vitamin B1, etc., in high yield, at a low cost, by culturing a microbial strain capable of producing 1-deoxy-D-threo-pentulose (DTP) and collecting from the cultured products, or reacting the cultured products with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:1-Deoxy-D(or L or DL)-threo-pentulose is prepared by culturing a microbial strain capable of producing DTP and separating the accumulated DTP from the cultured product, or reacting pyruvic acid, etc. with the cultured product or its treated product. |
