<p>PURPOSE:To provide a high density and high SN recording medium by which a high output having good stability is obtd. by dispersing a plate-like magnetic material having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to a plane in a binder and providing the same on a substrate having a nonmagnetic metallic layer on one or both surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material is barium ferrite or barium ferrite part of the barium and iron whereof are substd. with Ca, Sr, Pb, Co, Ni or the like, and MnBi, Mn, Bi are substd. with Se and other metals. Said material is made into a plate shape and the axis of easy magnetization thereof is perpendicular to the plane of the substrate. The preferred grain size of the magnetic material is usually average <=0.3 micron particle size. The thickness of the magnetic material used is usually in a range of 1/2-1/5 of particle sizes. The binder may be any of known binders. A nonmagnetic metallic layer of, for example, Al, Cu, Zn, Sn, Ti or their alloy having 0.005-0.2 micron thickness is provided on one or both surfaces of the substrate. Drop-out is thus decreased and therefore an antistatic charge agent is decreased.</p> |
