The invention is based on a hydraulic braking and steering brake system for motor vehicles which, in conjunction with a main cylinder, on the one hand selects the appropriate wheel brake in the case of steering processes carried out with the aid of a wheel brake and on the other hand switches off the wheel brakes of the vehicle axle which cannot be steering-braked in the case of steering braking. The control device comprises two normally open, alternately closable valve passages (8, 14; 9, 15) between a main cylinder and in each case one wheel brake of a steering-brakable vehicle axle. The closing elements (8, 9) of the valve passages (8, 14; 9, 15) are formed onto sealing pistons (5, 6) which can be displaced in the axial direction by a switching rocker (25). According to the invention, it is proposed that the steering device have a third valve passage (10, 16) by means of which a connection can be brought about between the main cylinder and wheel brakes of a non-steering-brakable vehicle axle, the third valve passage (10, 16) moving into a closed position when one of the first or second valve passages (8, 14; 9, 15) assumes the closed position. <IMAGE>
