PURPOSE:To facilitate the incorporation of a silk peptide with a cosmetic, by reacting the silk peptide obtained from silk fibers with an organic acid halogenide to solubilize the silk peptide in an oil. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic obtained by hydrolyzing silk fibers with an acid, alkali or enzyme, adding a dilute alkali solution to the resultant silk peptide solution to adjust the pH to 9.5-12.0, dropping and reacting an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid halogenide with the adjusted solution at 40-80 deg.C under stirring to give a fat-soluble silk peptide of the formula (R is aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid residue; R' is alkyl). The compound of the formula is well soluble in various vegetable oils, mineral oils and fatty acid esters and further stabler to sunshine and heating conditions and has maintained favorable action, e.g. inhibitory action on tyrosinase activity. |
