The proposed mode of operation of microwave transmitters in movement detectors allows the power requirement to be reduced while adhering to the regulations of the German Post Office governing radiation of secondary frequencies. During the settling time and the turn-off time of the oscillator (3), an antenna (5) is disconnected from the oscillator (3) with the aid of a radio-frequency switch (4). The oscillator (3) and the radio-frequency switch (4) are controlled with the aid of a square-wave generator (1) and a timer (2). <IMAGE>
