The invention relates to coatings which are especially suited to working with a Siemens ink recorder operating by the reduced pressure process, to be precise for recording on non-absorbing substrates (plastic materials, glass, ceramic, metal). The coating is composed of a binder, a colorant, a solvent or solvent mixture, consisting of alcohols, glycols, glycol ethers, glycol ether acetates, water and aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbons. A surface tension of about 28-50 mN/m at 20 DEG C and a viscosity of about 12-30 mPa.s at 20 DEG C must be maintained for the coating.
