PURPOSE:To ensure the detection of the minute amount of a liquid droplet and to measure and detect the time when the liquid begins to flow out of a fine pipe and the like, by passing the liquid droplet through a liquid droplet passing air gap, which is formed between a light emitting end and a light receiving end, thereby changing the amount of incident light to the light receiving end, detecting the change in the amount of light by a light detecting part, and detecting the liquid droplet. CONSTITUTION:When a liquid droplet 16 from a liquid droplet flowing mechanism 13 does not pass through a liquid droplet passing gap 10, light emitted from a light source 2 is transmitted through an optical fiber cable 3 and projected from a light emitting end 8. The light passes the liquid droplet passing air gap 10, and all the amount of light enters a light receiving end 9. The light is transmitted to a light detecting part 5 through an optical fiber cable 6. Then the light detecting part 5 detects that all the amount of light from the light emitting end 8 reaches the light receiving end 9. When the liquid droplet 16 passes the liquid droplet passing air gap 10, the light from the light emitting end 8 is absorbed and scattered by the liquid droplet 16, and the amount of the input light to the light receiving end 9 is changed. By detecting the change by the light detector 5, the passage of the liquid droplet 16 is detected. |
